How to choose safe exterior building shading products for high-rise buildings
External building shading devices have been recommended by building management departments in many provinces for their performance – improving the thermal performance of building envelopes, reducing solar heat gain, and controlling indoor temperatures – and have become one of the acceptance criteria for green buildings.
However, in recent years, building safety accidents have occurred one after another, fully demonstrating the severe situation facing safety production in the field of housing and urban-rural construction. As an emerging building energy-saving device, an external sunshade is usually installed in the peripheral structure of high-rise buildings, and its wind pressure resistance and safety measures are particularly important. The common types of external sunshade products applicable to high-rise buildings are wind-resistant metal blinds, external sunshade shutters, wind-resistant soft roller blinds wing sunshade panels, etc. The following analyzes these four types of products respectively. The following is the analysis of these four types of product’s wind pressure performance and safety measures:
(1) Wind-resistant metal blinds
As shown in Figure 1, wind-resistant metal blinds by the top groove, motor, drive mechanism, Z-shaped metal blinds, guiding side rails, ladder rope belt, bottom rail and other components. The product standard is JG/T251-2017, which is the standard of sunshade metal blinds for construction.

(2) External sunshade roller shutter (metal hard roller shutter
As shown in Figure 2, the external sunshade shutter (metal hard rolling shutter) consists of cover shell, end seat, electric drive system, connector, roll tube, guide rail, aluminum alloy foam curtain sheet, bottom beam and other parts. Product standard: “Architectural sunshade hard rolling shutter” JG/T443-2014.

(3) Wind-resistant soft roller shutter.
As shown in Fig. 3, wind-resistant soft roller shutter consists of mounting bracket, electric drive system, fabric roll tube, guide rail, sunshade fabric, windproof system, bottom beam and other parts. The product standard is JG/T254-2015, “Sunshade Soft Rolling Curtain for Construction”.

(4) Wing sunshade
As shown in Fig. 4, the wing sunshade consists of keel profile, wing sunshade (blade), blade rotation shaft, push rod motor, transmission linkage and other parts. The product standard is “Aluminum Alloy Sunshade for Construction” JG/T416-2013.
