ULE PANDA at FESQUA 2026: Four Days in São Paulo, and What Brazil Asked For
Four days. One hall in São Paulo. More than sixty conversations that are worth following up on.
ULE PANDA closed out FESQUA 2026 on September 12 after a full run at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, where Latin America’s window, door and shutter industry gathers every two years. For our export team, it was the clearest read yet on where the Brazilian roller shutter market is heading — and the answer came back narrower and more specific than we expected.
Why FESQUA matters for roller shutter sourcing
FESQUA is the largest trade fair for frames, hardware and components in Latin America, held biennially at São Paulo Expo and covering doors, windows, façades, closures, machinery and accessories. For a manufacturer selling into Brazil, it is the one week when fabricators, installers, distributors and architectural buyers are all in the same building.
Brazil’s demand for external sun shading and security shutters has been climbing alongside residential construction and a growing preference for energy-efficient façades. What we saw at the booth confirmed it: buyers were not browsing. They arrived with projects, dimensions and delivery dates already in hand.
What Brazilian buyers asked for: the 45mm slat, in black and white
The 45mm aluminum roller shutter slat was the clear centre of gravity at our booth. It came up in the majority of serious conversations, and almost always in the same two finishes: black and white.
That combination tells us something useful about the market:
45mm is the practical sweet spot. It covers the span and wind-load requirements of most residential and light commercial openings in Brazil without the cost and weight of a larger profile, and it fits the box and guide-rail dimensions fabricators there are already tooled for.
Black is now a design choice, not a niche one. Dark façade elements have moved firmly into mainstream Brazilian residential architecture. Buyers asked about black finishes for visible slats on street-facing elevations, and several specifically raised colour stability under strong sun exposure.
White remains the volume colour. It stays the default for standard residential retrofit and larger housing projects where the shutter needs to disappear into the wall.
The 45mm slat wasn’t the only size on buyers’ minds, though. Two smaller profiles came up often enough to be worth noting:
39mm is gaining ground for smaller openings. With apartment buildings across Brazil increasingly built with compact window sizes, several fabricators told us the 39mm slat is now more than adequate for these installations — and its lighter weight and lower material cost make it an easier sell on volume residential projects.
41mm is the size to watch. As one of ULE PANDA’s newer additions to the lineup, the 41mm slat sits neatly between 39mm and 45mm, and early conversations at the booth suggest it’s a strong fit for the Brazilian market — enough interest that we expect it to be a bigger part of the conversation at future shows.
Alongside these three sizes, we fielded steady questions on polyurethane foam density, coating durability and UV resistance, MOQ and container loading for first orders, lead times from Nanjing to Santos, and OEM finish matching for buyers with their own colour ranges.
